Located near O'Hare, we have immediate openings for a Manual Milling Machinist with experience with Proto Trac on our night shift (4:30 a.m. 1:00 a.m.):


  • Read, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings including symbols, welding symbols, material type and material shape.
  • Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, drawings, specifications, materials, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform basic machining math including fractional / decimal conversion, basic trigonometry (sin, cos), calculating dimensions and tolerances and determining missing linear or angular dimensions.
  • Properly set up and operate Manual Mill and machine parts/components to the required specifications.
  • Properly utilize machining tools such as high speed end mill, carbide end mill, high speed drill, carbide drill, high speed tap, roll forming tap, right angle attachments and reaming.
  • Edit and program Bridgeport Manual Mill using Proto Trac MX2 Controls.
  • Plan and perform a wide variety of diversified close tolerance milling operations.
  • Select appropriate speeds, feeds and tooling for operations.
  • Lift and position workpiece on machine table and secure it.
  • Verify alignment of workpiece.
  • Verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications using measuring devices.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance as required following manufacturer's instructions.


  • Ability to read blueprints and machine components from them
  • Experience editing and/or programming with Proto Trac MX2 Controls
  • Solid knowledge of material shapes and types
  • Background and experience performing multiple setups and changeovers


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.  The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
